Stephanie Caprara

Born and raised in Montreal, Stephanie grew up listening to various genres of music. Her passion for music became obvious at an early age. Her older sister was an essential driving force in discovering and appreciating different types of music. Listening to music from different decades characterized her creative and musical abilities. Stephanie would withdraw to her room and sing along with the likes of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

It was at this early age that she taught herself to interpret the pop tunes from such divas with her own distinctive and unique style. As she got older she realized the importance of expressive lyrics and began to write her own poems. Accolades received from her peers and teachers during high school talent shows, convinced her to take voice lessons to perfect her talent. Her first real performance was at her high school graduation dance where the public encouraged her to follow her dreams and pursue her singing career.

Eager to perform in other venues, Stephanie participated in a number of competitions and almost always ranked in the top three. She has performed in many local and provincial events and has received rave reviews. Her first radio play came in September 2002 with the dance mix of Phil Collins, In the Air Tonight produced by Tycoon Records. Her songwriting abilities have been recognized by the Mix96 National Songwriting Competition 2004 where her song, You Wont See Me Cry placed 6th among hundreds of entrants. Today her musical influences rank from Aretha Franklin, Sly & The Family Stone, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Rufus/Chaka Khan, Prince and Alicia Keys. Influenced by Pop, Blues, Soul, Funk and R&B, Stephanies music is unique and refreshing.

Stephanie has 4 years of piano training, 1 year of classical voice training, and 7 years of popular voice training. She has a great deal of stage and performance experience, as well as working as a session singer in various recording studios. Currently, Stephanie gives voice lessons part time, and sings in two very successful bands called "Nitelife" and "Sandra & the Latin Groove."
