Treyomi Fonseka

Treyomi? I couldn’t stop thinking about what a unique name that is. As I walked to the coffee shop to visit her, I was thinking about where this name is from and what does it mean? It was a chili night but as soon as I entered into the Coffee Shop, two hot black eyes from behind the couch were staring at me, and as I walked closer, I saw a big beautiful smile and right away I got this is her, Treyomi!

She was so friendly and lovely that I almost thought I knew her from a past life. We had some hot drinks and finally I got to ask her about her name; she smiled and said “a lot of people think its based on nationality, but its actually a combination of my mom and my dads name, Tre is the first 3 letters of my Dads and Yomi is from my mom’s.” How cool is that? Not only an interesting name, but her appearance makes it a very beautiful mystery to guess where she is from. Although she was born and raised in Canada, her background is actually Sri Lankan, she said “No one ever guesses what my background is, I usually get West Indian, Guyanese or Trinidadian but never Sri Lankan.”  That’s why I say its a beautiful mystery; I think it’s a great advantage for her as a model.

Her modeling work started in 2007 with promotional events and she would never have guessed at the time, that modeling for those events would lead her to where she is today. Her resume has a vast variety of different types of modeling styles and you can say, she has done it all. Her favorite kind of modeling is mainly sports and MMA related stuff. With a great tight body, her strong & playful personality, all I can say is: It’s a match!

I was wondering what she is exactly looking for in a photo shoot or from a photographer. She said “I normally relate to a lot of people so I always have great experiences but I expect from the photographer that I be able to be relaxed and to talk and have fun. It’s very important, if you are nervous or uncomfortable it really shows in the shots for that reason. If you are able to talk to the photographer and can feel relaxed, it helps a lot.” She is always going through her portfolio and looking for ways she could do a little better and always trying to bring something more to the next shoot. If you compare her works from the beginning to her current work, it shows how much she has grown as a model.

Treyomi always keeps a positive attitude toward competition in the modeling industry; she explains that in the modeling world there is a lot of Yes’s but also a lot of No’s and a bit of rejection. So she tries to look at them positively and move forward to the next opportunity. She says “you know that you didn’t get it this time but there is always something else waiting for you out there.”

Other than modeling and working on a tight schedule, Treyomi is an administrative assistant who has a crush on extreme sports like rock climbing, sky diving, hiking and in the winter she loves snow boarding…but when summertime comes, she’s rips around Toronto on her motorbike.
