For most women, modeling is a fantasy explored just as a phase or a thought and very rarely do they push through the threshold and try and make it. Stephanie Matias, a Brampton, Ontario native has been modeling for the last three years and could not imagine her life without it. “My whole life, after my first photo shoot, I was in love,” Matias said.
With her out-going energy and love for working with others, Matias has been able to embrace her love for modeling with the Girls of Glam. She doesn’t have the typical model profile either, she stands out with her petite frame and unique eyes. “I see myself being known for petite modeling and working in the industry as a full time career,” Matias explains. Fame is something that comes along with modeling and the beast called fame does not scare this beauty. It is something she has looked forward to since childhood and would like her dancing to also be a part of that as well. “Fame is great. I would like to be famous for modeling, be known for my face and role model internationally,” Matias said. Most of us have seen an episode or two of America’s Next Top Model and have witnessed how competitive the models can be with one another. For Matias, she chooses to deal with it the best way possible. “Seeing other good models inspires me to be better and to learn from them and strive to be good,” Matias said.
Matias is a graduate from Humber College. She graduated with honours in the Travel and Tourism program and is currently working a full–time job in a travel management company as an account manager. Balancing both careers, Matias also looks forward to having a family one day. “I would like to have a family with kids and a husband eventually. I do not feel this should affect my career,” Matias said. There is always more than meets the eye and the same goes for models such as Stephanie Matias.
