Written by Daniel Stad
Known as ERF, Little Persian & Esai, “Erfan Elias Edraki” was born in Montreal, but has spent the majority of his life right here in Toronto. His name “Erfan” which is of Persian origin and is pronounced “Air-Fon” means “knowledge” when translated to English.
Elias twists the boundaries on what is usually known as a triple threat in the industry. He’s an actor, a photographer and a rapper. Elias is also quite good at all three. A quick Google search reveals scores of information and credits to his work.
At the age of 27, Elias has accomplished many feats; he’s been featured on over 10 TV series, a number of commercials and in the movie “Accidental Friendship.” Some of his most recent roles include being Anson on Degrassi: The Next Generation, Hamasa Gulzar on Combat Hospital and Wilson in “Falling Skies” just to name a few. With his career going strong, Elias is working hard on a few new and exciting projects and is always ready for the next challenge in acting.
When it comes to rapping, Elias is right at home in front of a live audience. He has a way of just letting the words flow out and with his style and lyrics, always makes a deep connection to the crowd. Since the age of 16, Elias has been addicted to open mics and freestyle battles and when you listen closely to his music, there’s a sense of experience and emotion in what he says. He delivers a positive message and understands the problems of poverty, drug abuse and a wide range of topics of importance, all in a matter that leaves the crowds wanting more.
In photography, Elias’ specialty is in shooting live concerts. Some of his key work has been with Sean Jones & Akon. He spent 2 days on tour with Akon capturing every gripping moment, and his work of singer Sean Jones was even featured on Etalk. However his photography is not limited to just live concerts. He has a passion for capturing moments of inspiration in wildlife and nature, and as well takes the time find photo opportunities of everyday life and did some excellent work in Costa Rica.
When asked about the general theme of his work and the message he tries to deliver, Elias says, “Through my music, films, photography or any art form I practice, my main message to the youth is that anything is possible. Dreams do come true, so long as you work hard and stay dedicated to your art. The main reason people fail in life is because they give up on their dreams and settle for less. Once the dream is gone, all that’s left is a nightmare.”
