Veronika is a combination of smart, skilled and sexy with a distinctive style! This is my second interview with Veronika and it was great to follow up with her exciting news and to get a little deeper into her personal life.
Recently “Searching for Angels” premiered at the “ReelWorld Film Festival” which Veronika said was an amazing experience for her. Of course she had already watched the movie in a private screening with her friends and family, but to see it go public was an exciting and memorable moment for her. Her role in “Searching for Angels” was very tough and challenging and she only had 3 months to get prepared and ready for the filming. The character was based on an amnesia heroin addict and it was a role that pushed her out of her comfort zone…but for her to put on a great performance she had no other choice than to deal with it and be comfortable, not to mention she had the pressure of having to lose 20 pounds!
During our interview I asked Veronika how was her overall experience during the filming of “Searching for Angels” and she said, “It was kind of hard, because when I was younger, about 17/18 I had good party days…then there are memories that I almost don’t want to look back at. Actually shooting the movie, I was feeling so bad for my mom because everyday I’d be late or not coming home, just getting involve with a wrong crowd. Even in the city of Toronto it can be very eye opening, just to see there’s so much right front of us. During a lot of our night shoots in some parts of the city...You’ll see the drug dealing and the prostitution…I saw the city very differently. I’ve always seen the nice things so I became aware and awareness was something that I learned.”
Learning more about her experiences you’d think acting might become quite stressful at times, but for Veronika she has learned how to overcome these pressures. One of her key methods of relieving stress is by boxing a lot. She not only boxes because it relieves stress, its also because she likes to eat and because she needs to maintain a certain shape in the industry. She also stays in shape by maintaining a healthy life style by getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, keeping her skin moisturized and not overdoing it when it comes to sun exposure.
Between all of these busy days and full schedules, one question that pops through my mind is; How does one balance a personal life with acting?” and she said, “It’s a lot of time management and very little sleep” as she sits there smiling at me :) Digging a little deeper I asked her if she has a boyfriend and she said, “No, I am single because I keep traveling, so it’s hard. I’ve also tried dating people outside the industry but when you start attending media events or red carpet events, for them its like Oh my god! They say what you mean I have to do this or what do you mean you have to kiss somebody else on the screen. So I’m like, wow how this even going to work so no I don’t have one (laughing).”
When it comes to fashion, Veronika is in love! She has put a lot of focus into her own fashion goals these days. Between her love for leather and her desire for cool accessories and Ink, Veronika is branding herself with her own unique sense of style and taste. Eventually she hopes to create her own fresh and edgy brand which won’t be limited to just clothing but will also include perfumes. She also loves getting tattoos and has recently inked herself with 4 new tattoos all within the last six months! Of course they are all original and go great with her edgy personality!
Right now she is working on two features, one of them is called, “Lady of the Night” and at the end of April she will start shooting the “Big Smoke” which will also be right here in Toronto!
